Caroline Vié is a French journalist and author, best known for her work as a cinema critic at 20 Minutes and her contributions to literary fiction. She has built a career that bridges cultural journalism and creative writing, offering sharp insights into film while also publishing novels that explore contemporary themes. Her dual role as critic and novelist makes her a distinctive voice in French media, blending analytical rigor with narrative imagination.

Her path into journalism began early, writing about cinema in fanzines before joining L’Écran Fantastique, a magazine dedicated to genre films. Over the years, she contributed to several outlets, including Travelling and Ciné News, before becoming one of the founding members of 20 Minutes in 2002, where she remains the paper’s dedicated film journalist. She also appeared on Canal+’s program Le Cercle, further cementing her reputation as a recognizable figure in French film criticism. Despite working in a male-dominated field, Vié has spoken candidly about navigating gender and age biases in the profession, emphasizing her resilience and passion for cinema.

Alongside her journalism, Caroline Vié has published several novels. Her debut, Brioche (2012), was followed by Dépendance Day (2015), both with JC Lattès, and later Ni tout à fait une autre with Les Escales. These works showcase her ability to move fluidly between cultural commentary and fiction, often infusing her writing with humor and sharp observation. Today, she continues to balance her prolific output at 20 Minutes—with thousands of articles to her name—with her literary endeavors, positioning herself as both a chronicler of cinema and a storyteller in her own right.
