Julian Chokkattu is a journalist, editor, and photographer best known for his work as Senior Reviews Editor at WIRED, where he covers personal technology and consumer products ranging from smartphones and wearables to electric scooters and office gear.

Julian Chokkattu began his career in journalism after graduating from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, with a degree in English and Journalism & Media Studies in 2014. During his time at Rutgers, he honed his skills as news editor at The Daily Targum, the university’s independent newspaper, and developed a passion for photography during travels in Asia. His early professional experiences included internships at TechCrunch and editorial work at The Star‑Ledger, where he gained exposure to both technology reporting and newsroom production.

He went on to become Mobile and Wearables Editor at Digital Trends, steering coverage of smartphones, smartwatches, and emerging consumer tech. In 2019, he joined WIRED, where he has steadily advanced through roles from Associate Editor to Reviews Editor, and now serves as Senior Reviews Editor, shaping the publication’s coverage of personal technology. Alongside his editorial work, Chokkattu is also an accomplished photographer, often blending visual storytelling with his reporting. Based in New York City, he continues to explore the evolving tech landscape, bringing clarity and insight to readers navigating the fast‑changing world of consumer innovation.
