Emma Tucker is an English journalist and the editor-in-chief of The Wall Street Journal, making history as the first woman to lead the publication. She was previously the editor of The Sunday Times and a deputy editor at The Times. Born on October 24, 1966, in London, England, she studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at University College, Oxford. Her journalism career began at the Financial Times, where she worked as a foreign correspondent in Brussels and Berlin before moving into editorial roles.

Tucker joined The Times in 2007 as associate features editor, later becoming editor of Times2 and editorial director. In 2013, she was appointed deputy editor, working under John Witherow. In January 2020, Tucker became the first female editor of The Sunday Times since 1901, overseeing major investigations, including reports on COVID-19 contracts. In December 2022, she was named editor-in-chief of The Wall Street Journal, officially taking over on February 1, 2023.

Tucker has three sons, including one born in February 2001. She was previously married and later remarried Peter Andreas Howarth, who also has three sons. She currently resides in New York City’s Upper West Side.
