Naomi Alderman is an English novelist, game writer, and television executive producer, best known for her speculative fiction novel The Power, which won the Women's Prize for Fiction in 2017 and was adapted into a television series. Born in London in 1974, she studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Oxford University before pursuing creative writing at the University of East Anglia.

Her debut novel, Disobedience (2006), explored themes of faith and identity and was later adapted into a film starring Rachel Weisz. Alderman has also worked extensively in interactive storytelling, serving as the lead writer for the alternate reality game Perplex City and co-creating the fitness app Zombies, Run!.

She has been mentored by Margaret Atwood and was named one of Granta’s Best British Novelists in 2013. In addition to her literary work, Alderman presents science programs on BBC Radio 4 and is a professor of creative writing at Bath Spa University2.
