Tim Jackson is a New York–born, Connecticut‑raised artist whose career spans music, film, teaching and cultural criticism. After studying drama at Ithaca College and completing his English degree at the University of Massachusetts Boston, he built a life at the crossroads of performance and storytelling. His early grounding in theater and literature would become the foundation for a creative journey that has lasted more than five decades.

As a musician, Jackson has toured with iconic performers including folk legend Tom Rush, R&B powerhouse LaVern Baker and Robin Lane and the Chartbusters—famously the eleventh band ever featured on MTV in 1981. His own group, The Band That Time Forgot, has remained a beloved fixture of the Boston music scene for over 35 years, known for its longevity, craft and spirited live presence. Alongside his musical work, Jackson spent two decades teaching popular culture, theater and film history in Boston, shaping generations of students with his deep knowledge and infectious enthusiasm for the arts.

Jackson has also established himself as a filmmaker and critic, directing five documentaries—four of which he wrote and produced—and contributing regularly to the Boston arts magazine Arts Fuse. His commitment to thoughtful, rigorous cultural analysis has earned him a place as a standing member of the Boston Society of Film Critics. Across all his roles, Jackson continues to champion the power of art to illuminate, challenge and connect.
