Tom Galvin is an Irish journalist, author, and musician whose career has spanned continents and genres. He began his writing journey in Poland in the mid-1990s, where he taught English and contributed to The Warsaw Voice and Radio Polonia. His memoir There’s an Egg in My Soup captures the quirky and heartfelt experiences of his time living in a small Polish town, forming blues bands and immersing himself in local culture.

After returning to Ireland, Galvin became a staff writer and editor for In Dublin magazine, later serving as arts and culture editor for Village, a radical weekly publication. He’s written travel guides like The Little Book of Dublin and That’s Cork, and his debut novel Gabriel’s Gate explores themes of youth, recession, and resilience. He currently works with Independent News & Media, contributing to the Polski Herald supplement and serving as a books editor.

Based in Wicklow with his Polish wife and twins, Galvin continues to write and perform with his country blues band, The Big Muddy. His storytelling blends sharp observation with musical rhythm, reflecting a life lived between the pen and the guitar.
